A national newspaper’s recent 'Top 10 Picture Postcard Ski Resorts' ranked charming St Martin de Belleville highly and, taking in the breathtaking view from Villarabout Lodge's balconies, it is not hard to see why. What is hard though, is not feeling more than a little bit smug about the cosseted luxury in which you find yourself in this truly exceptional 3-bedroom chalet for exclusive use during the snow-sure period from Mid December – Mid April.

This chalet has been specially created for the owners and expats Helen and Chris who have pooled their joint talents in architecture and hospitality to create a brand new and exclusive mountain retreat. Sympathetically finished in old wood and stone, the chalet oozes comfort & beauty; decorated with cosy fur throws, cowhide walls and chic alpine touches it provides a heavy dose of boutique luxury for style conscious parents. It's not just the interiors that make Chamois special; it's the whole experience from pre-arrival concierge service to on call driver and the amazing meals created by the talented in-house (non-resident) chef, including dedicated kids suppers.

This new chalet is perfect for Baby-Friendly Boltholes families since it combines style, space and luxury with practicality. Best of all, guests can relax in the knowledge that Helen will take care of everything from stocks of nappies, formula, wipes, etc. to pre-booking crèche, ski school, nannies and ad hoc requirements for restaurants, spas, babysitters etc. when in resort. All of which ensures that families with young children can be confident that everything will run as smoothly as the low-traffic slopes they'll be skiing on.

Villarabout Lodge is surprisingly good value for money too as, included within the rates (see prices tab for exact prices) are delicious breakfasts, afternoon teas crammed with freshly baked cakes, pre-dinner canapés and 5-course dinners, plus an on-demand driver service to and from the ski lifts (4mins drive) until 10pm nightly, and a complimentary bar stocked with soft drinks, mixers and medal-winning wines. Not to mention the invaluable concierge service.


Accommodation Overview:

The chalet is set about 10 mins walk (few mins by complimentary driver service) from the centre of St Martin de Belleville. The interior is split over three floors with an 'upside down' design to maximise the spectacular views.

The ground floor is home to the spacious family suite, perfect for BFB guests with an entrance lobby which leads onto the bedrooms and bathroom. There is a king size double room (can be made up as a twin) with double door access to a small exterior terrace with hot tub. There is a separate, triple bunk bed room, perfect for mini guests next door and a shared bathroom with deep bath tub and shower over with hand held attachment. The ground floor also has a boot locker, accessed from outside with heated boot warmers.

There are two further bedrooms on the first floor, both king size doubles (can be made up as twins) each with en-suites comprising of deep bathtubs with showers over plus hand held attachment. One of the rooms has it's own balcony.


The second floor houses the stunning double height living space with its log fire, comfortable lounge area, sophisticated dining space and open plan, contemporary kitchen. Although the kitchen is very well equipped guests need not see to much of it thanks to the chef and chalet host on hand to cater to guests needs.

There's also a separate snug/children's play room with TV, DVD and English TV to help keep mini guests entertained whilst grown ups relax after a day on the pistes.

A handy list of useful baby gear is available on request (see 'Fast Facts' column) along with a range of luxury creature comforts including complimentary wi-fi in all rooms, pocket sprung beds, Egyptian cotton bed linens, cosy bathrobes and slippers, Molten Brown/White Company bath products and free daily cleaning.

Supplement per person in the bunk bedroom at the chalet on request. Infants under 2 years cost £100 per week provided they sleep in cot in the same room as their parents.
