Nestled amid Devon’s picturesque Blackdown Hills, yet just 20-minutes from the M5, Stonehayes Farm is a scenically set cluster of cottages that are ideal for making a quick escape to the country. Plus, with the Jurassic coast its quintessential seaside towns less than half an hour’s drive away, days on the beach will definitely be on the cards as well!
The Grade-II listed farm is a former thatched Devon long house with barns and outbuildings which owners Les and Lesley have transformed into contemporary, 4-star holiday cottages. Each of the five cottages has its own individual charm and combines character features such as exposed original stone walls and beamed ceilings with contemporary indulgences such as log burning stoves, cosy leather sofas, flat screen TVs, DVD players and granite-topped kitchens equipped with all modern amenities.
Besides the lovely cottages themselves, Stonehayes Farm is set in 17-acres of garden and grounds which lead to the small River Luv. Children we love the 14ft trampoline and climbing frame with swing and slides. To keep everyone occupied rain or shine, the cottages also share a large games room, complete with table football, table tennis, pool table and darts. Each of the cottages have their own grassy area with outdoor dining furniture and barbecue, so it’s well worth paying a visit to the region’s farm shops or the coast to feast on home reared meats, fantastic fresh fish and Somerset cider.
Accommodation Overview:
Shippen sleeps 5+cots in 2 bedrooms comprising a double with 5ft bed and ensuite shower room, and a triple with three singles, two of which can be attached to become a 6ft double. One of the lounge sofas is also a double sofa bed. The family bathroom has bath tub with shower whilst the kitchen is equipped with washer dryer, dishwasher, oven, hob, fridge, freezer, wine cooler and microwave. Outside, there is a private garden with lovely views, a BBQ and dining furniture.

Stonehayes Farm is set on the edge of the Blackdown Hills in Devon, just 2 miles from the market town of Honiton which has a good variety of shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and take-aways, plus a street market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Honiton Pottery Shop and Milkshake Bar is well worth a visit, where little messy monsters can ‘throw’ and paint pots, make hand and foot print plaques, tuck into knickerbockerglories and choose an exotic smoothie.
Nearby Bartletts Farm Shop near Honiton has a butchery for home reared meats, a deli, bakery, fruit and veg making it an ideal spot for picking up a long list of local goodies!
Besides exploring the surrounding rolling countryside, country lanes and thatched cottage villages, Stonehayes Farm is less than half an hour’s drive from lovely seaside towns and beaches including, Beer (8 miles), Sidmouth (10 miles) Lyme Regis (14 miles ) and Branscombe (13 miles). Families can go fossil hunting along the rocky shores around Lyme Regis, meet furry long-eared friends at Sidmouth’s Donkey Sanctuary and go train crazy at Beer’s Pecorama. In fact, families staying at Stonehayes Farm are spoilt for choice with the variety of things to see and do within easy reach and whatever the weather, in Devon, Dorset and Somerset.

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
