Villa Taygeta is the prescription pad for stressed out, style-conscious parents in search of an indulgent, child-friendly retreat. More akin to your very own boutique hotel than self-catering rental, the villa comes with an array of optional extras all designed to ensure a really relaxing, family break.
Designed in traditional Cycladic style, this ‘sugar cube’ villa is sure to impress. Outside the property is set in landscaped gardens with one of the coolest pool set ups we’ve seen…. Teak mattress topped sunbeds ‘float’ within the sea-facing infinity pool whilst the bubbling jacuzzi offers the perfect spot for an evening tipple PTBD (post toddler bedtime). Yogi’s have a custom-built deck for their sun salutations (private lessons can be arranged on request) and there’s plenty of space for lazy outdoor dining and afternoon naps (we recommend nabbing the hammock). Inside the villa’s a lesson in bohemian luxury. Pared back interiors with a chic, island inspired colour palette create a light and welcoming space whilst the thoughtful supply of baby gear and toddler-friendly extras ensure families feel right at home.
A solid ten the villa doesn't disappoint on location either. Looking out over the Ionian ocean with views stretching as far as Kefalonia, the villa feels perfectly private yet but is wonderfully accessible with the small but bustling port of Agios Nikolaos set just a short walk away which offers a fine selection of local tavernas, restaurants and shops. Plus, during low season guests have the opportunity to make use of the facilities at the ever popular Peligoni Club which is almost on the doorstep ( guests passes are available on request depending on the season).
All in all Villa Taygeta is ideal for parents looking to take the stress out of self catering and unwind in their very own slice of holiday heaven.
Accommodation Overview;
The air-conditioned Villa Taygeta is perfect for larger or multi family groups with 5 en-suite bedrooms many of which have their own private terraces. The luxury top floor master suite offers a spacious double room with en-suite shower room (rain shower). This room benefits from its very sundeck which offers stunning ocean views. There’s a second bedroom on this floor; a twin room with en-suite bathroom and private covered balcony. Downstairs the entrance level has a further master bedroom with double bed, en-suite shower room and private courtyard and a twin bedroom with shower room. The lower ground floor offers a further twin room with an en-suite shower room and private sea view terrace.
The communal living space is open plan with an impressive and well-equipped kitchen (dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, electric oven, hob, coffee machine), comfortable lounge area and dining space. There’s a handy laundry room and downstairs cloakroom.
Active guests have use of an in-house gym complete with weights, cross trainer and suspension training equipment plus there’s a boules court and elegant yoga deck.
Little ones are well catered for as on top of the in-house baby/toddler gear there’s a thoughtfully equipped playroom which is a great space for little ones looking to escape the midday sun.
As mentioned the outdoor space is the villas real crowning glory. From the impressive infinity pool, sprawling terraces, summer kitchen, covered dining area, indulgent jacuzzi and fragrant planters it’s bound to prove hard a very hard place to leave!
Please note: The villa has a full time, on call manager and includes 3 times weekly maid service and twice weekly linen, towel and bedding change for off season booking whilst peak season stays include daily cleaning and regular change of linens and towels. An ironing service can be arranged on request at extra charge.

Location Information
Villa Taygeta has a prime location within an area of outstanding natural beauty, with views of the Ionian Sea, in the north eastern corner of Zakynthos (also known as Zante). Although the stretches of sandy beaches have made the island a popular package holiday destination, this unspoilt corner is a world away from the busiest resorts and families will find private coves to swim in the crystal clear sea, just a few minutes from the Villa.
Agios Nikolaos is a bustling little port with a smattering of tavernas, restaurants and shops set a short walk away. The port is a stopping off point for boat trips to the ‘Blue caves of Zante’ and a ferry also sails to Kefalonia, (approx. 1 hr), made famous by the novel and movie, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. The owner can help arrange private trips or boat hire should guests wish to see the infamously beautiful 'Shipwreck Cove' or Blue Caves in luxury.
For families staying at Villa Taygeta, they may be able to take advantage of the excellent Peligoni Club which is walking distance away and occasionally offers temporary membership (costs apply – usually only possible in low/mid season).The club is open May – September and has a creche, selection of children's activities, watersports, bars, a restaurant and more.
For a change of scene from the villa, a visit to Volimes reveals the traditional side to Zakynthos, in a string on three small hamlets up in the hills. It’s a popular day out for coach trips so best to visit in the morning to buy the local cheese, yummy honey and embroidery souvenirs. For a more full on day of family fun, the Water Village Waterpark (35 mins) is one of the biggest in Greece, with slides, flumes, pools and play areas for all ages.
Nearest medical services: GP/A&E, 10-15 mins.
Getting here: The international airport for Zakynthos (or Zante) is just under an hour’s drive from Villa Taygeta, with airlines including Easyjet, British Airways Thomson and Jet2 flying from regional airports in the UK.

Colette SintonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were lucky enough to have Vicki's expertise and support in finding our family holiday in Zakynthos this summer. After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
