From lazy days by the pool to perfect sea view sundowners, up to 11 family and friends will feel pretty special staying in one of the largest villas on Skiathos, just a 2-minute walk from gorgeous Kolios beach.
5-bedroom Villa Asteri is set in a mature, enclosed garden with a private pool but what really gives the place its wow factor is the view over Kolios Bay from the 1000 sq. ft. terrace on the first floor. To take full advantage of the panorama, the whole of the first floor is an open plan living room, dining area and breakfast kitchen, with bi-fold doors that fully open onto the big enclosed terrace where families can lounge on sofas in the sun and enjoy every meal at the best table in town. With such a backdrop, BBQ’s and self-catering at the villa is definitely a pleasure and never a chore but families can also have the 5-star service of cold beers and cocktails, pizzas and Greek specialities delivered to the villa from the local tavernas.
To give families more privacy, the 5 cool, fresh bedrooms are in two separate parts of the ground floor, with separate entrances and most opening onto the patios and garden. Two bedrooms also have interconnecting doors, making then ideal for a couple with babies and toddlers. If all the grown-ups fancy a night on the town, the English caretaker also offers babysitting at €10 per hour.

Location Information
Villa Asteri has a prime location, overlooking picturesque Kolios bay, just 10 minutes from Skiathos town and the airport. The villa is on a lane that leads from the beach, along with just a handful of other houses, apartments and tavernas, serving cold drinks and cocktails, ice creams, pizzas, burgers and Greek dishes – and they’ll even deliver to the villa! The small Manos supermarket is also just a couple of minutes’ walk from Villa Asteri which has most everyday essentials. Two large supermarkets, are a short drive or a few stops on the bus.
Besides the local beach taverna, pool bar and Infinity Blue Restaurant, there are more tavernas in Platanias, 10-minutes’ walk from the villa, such as Green Park, serving delicious food in a pretty garden setting. In Skiathos Town there are hundreds of tavernas and restaurants to choose from and the owners’ recommendations include the courtyard restaurant, Marmita, the grilled meat sharing platters at To Palouki and the contemporary Greek classics at Ergon. If grown-ups book the babysitter, Borzoi turns into a very chic cocktail bar and nightclub later in the evening.
Just a few hundred yards from the villa, Kolios beach is in the large and sheltered Kolios Bay, backed by trees, with golden sand and calm crystal-clear sea for paddling, swimming and snorkelling. There is also a great taverna on the beach. For a livelier beach scene, watersports and lots of beach bars, the most famous beach on Skiathos, Koukounaries, is just a short drive or a few bus stops from the villa, renowned for its extremely fine white sand and glittering sea, backed by fragrant pine forest.
Skiathos has over 60 beautiful beaches along the 45km of coastline and the best, if not the only way, to visit many is by hiring a little boat – like the small island of Tsougria and Lalaria (for a beach breakfast, before the tour boats arrive!). Other beaches recommended by the owner of Villa Asteri include Ligaries, which has a gorgeous taverna just back from the beach, Kechria with a beautiful grass lawn, and Mikros Asselinos in the mornings, when a mule brings the day’s provisions to the funky driftwood taverna and sometimes cools off with a swim! Throughout the summer, ferries run to explore the neighbouring Sporades Islands and Mamma Mia fans will want to make the pilgrimage to the church from the movie on Skopelos.
Nearest medical services: Skiathos, 10 minutes’ drive.
Getting here: Direct flights with BA are available from London City Airport to Skiathos as well as from various other U.K. airports with Thomas Cook and Thomson. Car hire is not essential as there is a regular, air conditioned bus service from Skiathos which stops 2 minutes’ walk from the villa.

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
