Architect-designed, Villa Alouette is a stylish and serene 3-bedroom villa with a lovely setting, in a full hectare of land with 360 degree views – perfect for escaping the daily grind!
The villa has been thoughtfully finished with contemporary comfort in mind. The interiors are subtly luxurious and all set on one level so parents can appreciate the quality without worrying about toddler tumbles.
Designed to make the most of its stunning setting the house seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living, ideal for summer breaks with a range of terraces, gardens and of course the impressive pool which is safely alarmed and well-sized for both swim and play.
If little ones ever tire of splashing in the pool the owners have also supplied a selection of toys, swing set and table tennis table for older children. Those in larger groups can also hire the villa with the neighboring Maison Fontaine which, when combined, sleeps up to 16.
Accommodation Overview:
The villa has a spacious entrance hall with leads into a bright living room with a selection of comfortable sofas and high ceilings. It’s the perfect room for the grown -ups to retire to after a busy day in the sun whilst little ones prefer the adjacent library and media room with satellite TV and DVD player. The house has wi-fi throughout.
The large dining room is perfect for family feasts when not dining alfresco on the terraces whilst the kitchen although a little compact is well equipped with state of the art appliances including Nespresso machine, dishwasher, oven and hob. A washing machine and dryer are provided in the pantry.
The spacious master bedroom has an en-suite bath, shower room and handy private dressing area which makes a good space for a cot. There are two further bedrooms one double and one twin room located on the opposite side of the villa, both of which are spacious with private access to the terraces and pool. These two bedrooms can be connected and both have en-suite shower rooms. There is an additional W.C.
There are several terraces, the living room and dining room lead out onto the north facing terrace whilst the kitchen has access to both the north facing terrace and pool area. The master bedroom has a private north facing terrace whilst the two additional bedrooms have access to the terrace and pool area. The pool area is wonderfully landscaped with an 11m by 5m pool, plenty of sun loungers, parasols and a large south facing terrace under an old wisteria which is perfect for shaded alfresco dining.
The house has underfloor heating throughout, state of the art security, fans and a heated pool from June-September included. Pets are welcome on request.
Location Information
Villa Alouette is located a few minutes from Duras and 25 minutes from Sainte-Foy-Le-Grande in the vineyard-heavy Dordogne region. A little further afield is the medieval city of Bergerac, which has recently undergone sympathetic restoration and combines a bustling urban environment with old world charm. The cosmopolitan city of Bordeaux with its great shopping, dining and museums is just 90mins drive north-west with the famous wine producing town of St.Emilion en-route.
A Dodogne river beach is around 30 minutes drive away, as is the charming medieval town
of St. Emilion with its cobbled streets crammed with boutiques, bistros and
gourmet shops. The entire area is filled with charming little market towns,
with the picture perfect medival town of Issigeac about 45mins away — don‘t
miss Sunday brunch in the garden at Chez Alain (allow a leisurely 2—3 hours!).
Horse and pony riding and the neighbouring riding school is easily arranged, as
are rounds at the fabulous Chateau Vigiers golf course nearby. Make the most of
the babysitting available and head out to one of the many fabulous restaurants
nearby or enjoy food French—style with long leisurely lunches en famille.
More family fun and even more watersports can
be found at nearby riverside beach (sandy) which is just a ten minute drive
away and at the ‘magic cauldron’ eco farm, named after the pot in which the
mohair of 250 goats is farm dyed. Little ones will love making friends with the
animals which they can touch and feed including lambs, kids, goats, sheep,
chickens, ducks, turkeys, large angora white rabbits, highland cattle and two
of the largest, grubbiest pigs ever seen. You can also try your hand at cheese
or bread making.
Getting There: The house is approx. 45 minutes from Bergerac airport and 90 minutes from Bordeaux airport, both of which are served by low cost airlines from many of the UK’s regional airports. See www.skyscanner.net to help locate airports/flight options. The nearest train station is Marmande which is 25 minutes drive away and has a direct connection with Bordeaux and Toulouse. The closest ferry ports are Bilbao (4.5hrs), St Malo (6hrs) and Calais (10hrs).
