Trulli Gianpaolo

near Martina Franca, Puglia, Italy

Property Overview

0.0 (0 reviews )
Located equidistant from the beautiful white city of Ostuni, charming town of Cisternino and fashionable Martina France, the beautifully restored and renovated Trulli villa in Puglia offers an ideal base for exploring this varied and vibrant coastal region.

Contemporary and child-friendly, the owners have worked hard to create an inviting space which highlights the traditional architecture and natural materials. In keeping with the original set-up of the property, the villa is all set on one-level, making it perfect for families with toddlers in tow.

What we particularly enjoy about this part of Italy, aside from the Apulian cuisine, is the coastline. Unlike other regions, it offers an array of sandy beaches and guests can easily reach a range of well-equipped beach clubs on the Adriactic coast within 20-minutes drive of the villa.

That said, families could easily let the days drift by just soaking up the natural beauty around them, relaxing by the private pool and reconnecting as family without the distractions of home. The villa sits in picturesque gardens filled with fragrant Mediterranean planting and there’s plenty of space to lounge or dine outside to make the most of the sunshine.

For dining out there’s a great local restaurant within 25 minutes’ walk of the villa, but as is common in the area, the road in unpaved and unlit at night, so parents may prefer to hop in the car for a few minutes instead. Slightly further afield (within 15 minutes) you have a choice of excellent eateries, shops and towns.

Whilst the villa may not have the array of baby/toddler gear we usually like to see from our properties. It’s combination of location and style, made it a stand out property for the area and is a great destination for a rural, Italian beach holiday.

Accommodation Overview:

This impressive, traditional trulli has vaulted ceilings, simple but elegant furnishings and a natural, warm glow from the Apulian stone walls.

The house sleeps six plus infants in three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are en-suite double rooms and the third is a small double. The living area is spacious and comfortable. It offers a lounge, dining space and a well-equipped kitchen with a hob, coffee machine, fridge-freezer and dishwasher.

Doors from the living area lead directly out onto the villa’s pool terrace which has panoramic views of the Val d’Itria. There’s a shaded dining area and a BBQ for outdoor dining and loungers by the pool for relaxing.

There’s also a handy utility room outside with a washing machine.

An iron, ironing board, hairdryer and bath towels are provided. Air-conditioning is provided in the bedrooms only, but the nature of the building means the rooms remain cool even in the heigh of summer.

Location Information

The Val d’Itria is one of Puglia’s most sought-after locations and the region’s highlights are all within easy driving distance of the villa. Martina Franca, Locorotondo, Fasano and the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Alberobello all offer a unique insight into Puglia’s rich cultural history and there are plenty of charming restaurants tucked away amongst the narrow streets of each historic town centre.

For keen walkers there’s a 30km trail that meanders through this beautiful part of the Val d’Itria connecting some of its ancient towns and villages. Guests can even find bike hire locally and explore on two wheels instead.

The beautiful hill-top town of Ostuni is just 20 minutes’ drive away and highly recommended for a day trip. Its position provides beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and there are plenty of delicious gelato shops and restaurants to discover within the town.

The sandy beaches of the Adriatic coast, with their crystal-clear waters and well-equipped beach clubs, are within a 20-minute drive and the stunning coastal towns of Monopoli and Polignano a Mare are accessible in around half an hour. For day trips, the baroque wonders of Lecce and extraordinary limestone cave dwellings in Matera can be reached in less than an hour and a half.
