Tregea house in Cornwall is a very special find for families hoping for a staycation by the sea. It sleeps between 11-15 guests and is perfectly set up multi-family or multi-generation groups looking for somewhere to get together, relax and explore the north Cornish coast.
Located just a few minutes from Harlyn Bay, it’s offers almost beachside living with sweeping views of the sea. So, whether you’re enjoying a morning coffee on the deck, treating yourself to a glass of fizz in the private hot tub or firing up the BBQ for a summertime feast, you’ll be greeted with a backdrop of calming ocean.
The proximity to the beach means families will never be stuck for things to do. Even in winter, there’s nothing better than a bracing coastal walk, looking for treasures in rock pools. But summer is when the house really comes into its own! As parents themselves, the owners have a fully stocked surf store littered with beach paraphernalia. From windbreaks to wetsuits, body boards to buckets and spades, you’ll find everything you need for a fun, family time on the beach. The owners even have a parking permit for the beach, so you can save little legs and hauling heavy loads by hopping in the car & driving instead.
Back at the house, there’s plenty to keep the kids entertained too. The garden extends over an acre offering plenty of space to play. There are full-sized football goals, a cricket set, and table tennis guests can use, plus inside the house there’s a range of board games and a fantastic cinema style, media room which is a great for movie nights.
We think Tregea is a really special find and it’s clear the owners have put a lot of care and attention into creating a memorable destination for groups looking for a holiday by the sea.

Location Information
The house is just five minutes walk from the village of St Merryn, which welcomes visitors with a sign boasting ‘Seven Bays for Seven Days’, thanks to its easy access to seven lovely beaches. The village also boasts a handful of shops, a post office, a couple of pubs, a choice of restaurants, a deli and an award-winning fish and chip shop.
Five minutes walk from the house in the other direction is Harlyn Bay, which is excellent for surfing, swimming, paddling, sunbathing, sandcastle building and rockpooling. Plus it's home to another a relaxed beach cafe, a great food and drink truck called 'Food for Thought' and an additional food outlet arriving summer 2022.
Cycle hire with tagalongs or child-seats is available in Padstow from where you can join the easy Camel Trail along a disused railway track with beautiful estuary views. You can go as a far as Bodmin (14 miles each way) but most settle for Wadebridge (6 miles).
Rain needn’t mar a stay at Tregea as there are plenty of indoor attractions within easy reach including the Eden project with its toddler-friendly land train, or Crealy Adventure Park which has a petting farm and a play zone specifically aimed at under 5s. Activities from golf and horse-riding to sea fishing, kayaking and kite-surfing can also be arranged nearby.
For a special night out, be sure to get organised and pre-book babysitting and a table at one of the many fabulous restaurants nearby. Highly recommended are Rick Stein's St. Petroc's, Jamie Oliver's Fifteen, Michelin-Starred St Ervan Manor or, Good Food Guide Restaurant of the year, 'No.6' in Padstow.

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
