Frequently popping up in the foodie features, gastro guides and hot hotel reviews of weekend papers and glossy mags, The Pig at the heart of the New Forest is pretty special. More than a restaurant with rooms and more organic than uber cool boutique hotels, The Pig is a contemporary country house hotel and kitchen with bucket loads of character making it the perfect place to indulge and unwind.
The overriding atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, which means parents with babies and toddlers too as a couple of the 26 luxurious rooms are specially intended for families. The family rooms are actually mini suites which have a large double bed, space for a cot or camp bed, a separate bunk room for children up to 12 and a huge ensuite with 6ft monsoon shower and freestanding bath.
The Pig is a contemporary classic and comfortably lived in country house hotel, featuring restored, revamped and recycled furnishings in a luxurious shabby chic style. The decor comprises muted colours and feature walls, with quirky finishing touches and funky, modern design influences. Roaring fires, big chairs, squashy sofas and a relaxing bar are completely conducive to chilling out and then there’s the food!
To put it bluntly, where better to pig out than The Pig! The whole place revolves around the kitchen garden where superb produce is grown and foraged for the chef, James Golding, to create the constantly changing menus. James certainly knows a thing or two about good food too, having worked with Mark Hix, at the Ivy, Caprice, Sheeky’s and Soho House New York. In the conservatory Country Kitchen Restaurant, guests are literally treated to a taste of the New Forest, with the produce either home grown or mostly sourced from within 25 miles.Throughout the summer, children will also devour the mouthwatering flatbreads served in the courtyard from wood fired ovens and The Pig’s two pet pigs are likely to be lurking for leftovers! As a fun, foodie bonus, chief forager Garry, leads guided walks into the New Forest countryside in search of wild provisions, fromsalad leaves and mushrooms to nuts and berries.
Within the extensive grounds of The Pig, outdoor spaces have been designed like open air rooms with hammocks in the trees, benches dotted around and tables in the courtyard for al fresco dining, drinks and simply kicking back on balmy summers evenings. While grown ups unwind, children can play so everyone’s perfectly happy.Frazzled mums can even book pampering treatments in The Potting Shed!

Location Information
The Pig is located at the heart of the New Forest National Park in Hampshire, just a mile from the village of Brockenhurst. 90 minute’s drive from central London, The Pig is a superb spot to run away with the children from the smog and stress of city life but the New Forest National Park is also a beautiful corner of the UK for anyone to discover.
Following New Forest trails and cycling is a wonderful way to explore the National Park, looking out for the wild ponies, deer and plenty of other wildlife. The New Forest is also noted for numerous visitor attractions including Beaulieu Abbey and National Motor Museum, The New Forest Wildlife Park, Longdown Activity Farm, Marwell Zoo and Paultons Family Theme Park to name just a handful.
The countryside meets the south coast at pretty seaside villages like Lymington, 20 minutes drive from The Pig. Stroll along the quay and through cobbled streets to find tempting delis and buzzing bistros or do some designer shopping at Angel Court and gift shopping at the Saturday street market. South coast beaches and seaside towns such as Bournemouth are also within easy reach.
The fine cathedral city of Salisbury is 40 minutes drive from the Pig and a day out in this direction could also include a visit to Stone Henge.

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
