Provence Villa

Montauroux, nr Nice, Provence/Cote D'Azur, France

Property Overview

4.6 (26 reviews )

Reflecting the area in which it is set, this stylish villa is a wonderful combination of stunning scenery and sophistication. Just a short distance from the belle époque beauty and vibrancy of Cannes, Nice and Monaco, the aptly named ‘Provence Villa’ is a haven of peace and tranquillity. The air-conditioned villa benefits from an architectural design that allows each room to boast beautiful south-facing views through floor-to-ceiling windows and doors (all with adjustable shutters that can be set to provide shade from direct sunlight) and offering direct access to the garden and large heated and gated outdoor pool.

The living space is large, airy and open plan with air-conditioning, widescreen smart TV (with Netflix and Apple TV etc), High Speed Fibre Internet.

The master bedroom is a spacious room with a large en-suite (sink, toilet, bath, separate shower), whilst the second and third bedrooms are both bright and spacious, and set up as one double and one twin. The fourth bedroom is accessed through a separate door in the master suite and is set up with two single beds and a cot (which can be moved easily to another room). The main bathroom is large with a 'wet room' walk-in shower and a separate WC. Outside, the garden is private with beautiful views. There is a large heated and gated swimming pool and poolhouse, equipped with a seating area. Additionally, in the contemporary landscaped garden, there are tables, chairs, loungers, and a BBQ.

Location Information

The villa is conveniently located on the edge of the picturesque and historic town of Montauroux, which was founded over 1,000 years ago by the Grimaldi family who still reign today in Monaco under Prince Albert. It’s also the birthplace and final resting place of Christian Dior. Closer still is the Terra Blanche Resort (formerly Four Seasons Provence) with its spa, kids club (subject to availability) and championship European tour golf course. The Michelin star-winning restaurant is quite an attraction too.

The villa is just 45 minutes drive from Nice airport, inland from the coast, mid-way between Grasse and Cannes (30 minutes distance each). Yet, despite the lure of the glitz and glamour of the French Riviera or the charming medieval towns and villages, most guests find it hard to tear themselves away from the beautiful pool and gardens, at most managing to head into the village for some fresh raisin bread, or go down to the 5 star Terra Blanche Resort (formerly Four Seasons Provence) for a Spa treatment, the wonderful Kids Club, or for a round of golf on the highly acclaimed Dave Thomas designed championship course.

The village of Montauroux and its neighbours, Callian, Sellians and Fayence are extremely picturesque, hilltop villages with numerous amenities including café bars and restaurants. Other great destinations like Lourges are less than an hour away. There is a very large Leclerc supermarket lies less than 10 minutes from the villa and many other stores including numerous boulangeries and farmers markets nearby.

For golf fans, there are over 30 courses within a couple of hours drive from the villa. Alternatively, take flight Nearby Fayence is a European centre for gliding and you can experience the beauty of Provence from the air with a half hour 'sightseeing' tour. For those who prefer to take in the sights on four legs, the local horse riding centre is only 10 minutes away and is available for lessons and trekking. For water-borne adventure, kids will love the pedalos at Lac de Saint-Cassien just 10 minutes away, but there are also plenty of sea water sports centres at Saint-Raphaël or Fréjus plus kayaking on the pristine lakes of the Gorges du Verdon, or the beaches of the Côte d'Azur. Or try relaxation at the Terra Blanche Resort (formerly Four Seasons Provence) and the Domaine de Fayence which have excellent spa facilities open to non-residents.

Christian Dior’s home, Chateau de La Colle Noire is 10 minutes away. Grasse, the 'perfume capital of the world' lies 30 minutes from the house and is a spectacular old village with winding streets, stunning views, excellent restaurants and cafés. There are endless opportunities to sample and purchase perfume, as well as visits to the manufacturers to see the rose petals being transformed into scent.

Other towns worth a visit are Gorges du Verdon and Lac de Sainte-Croix for breathtaking scenery. For typical Riveria-chic and glamour, Antibes and Juan-les-Pins are the preferred hang-outs for many celebrities thanks to their amazing nightlife with many clubs, bars and restaurants. Not forgetting Saint-Tropez is perhaps the most famous beach resort in the world after Brigitte Bardot arrived in 1956 to make the film 'Et Dieu Créa la Femme'. Since then, it has become synonymous with its celebrity lifestyle and Mediterranean chic. Although it remains essentially a little fishing village on the Southern shores of the Golfe de Saint-Tropez. The 'Vieux Port', with the old town rising above the Eastern quay is where you'll get the classic Saint-Tropez experience. Choose from the many sidewalk cafés to just sit and watch people go by or venture into the village and explore the huge choice of shops, cafés, restaurants, picturesque squares, winding streets and beautiful architecture to admire.

For beach days, there's a wide selection to choose from. Cannes, Fréjus and Saint-Raphaël all have extensive beaches as well as plenty of shops, markets and restaurants. Fréjus has a Roman amphitheatre and hosts many summer concerts. Just outside Saint-Tropez is Port-Grimaud, a charming Provençal town built in the 1960's and based on the layout of Venice with brightly coloured houses set on private lagoons and waterways. It is a truly spectacular sight and perfect for a gentle stroll to admire the architecture, boats, cafés and brasserie restaurants. Boat trips leave from here for tours around the bay. Facing Saint-Tropez across the gulf is Sainte-Maxime, a pretty and traditional Riviera town with long, palm tree-lined promenade, delightful stretches of Mediterranean beaches and plenty of watersports. There are few better ways to spend an evening than to choose one of the restaurants or bars on the waterside and just watch the boats and the lights out on the bay.

Getting There:
The villa is 45mins from Nice Airport.
