Owners of Les Clos, Riel and Nick are mad about Brittany and their magnificent 16th century farmhouse makes an amazing base for up to 15 family and friends to discover why it’s so great for fab family holidays.
Les Clos is just 20 minutes inland from the Emerald coast and less than hour’s drive from cross channel ferry ports and airports, which keeps ‘are-we-nearly-there-yet’ stress to a minimum! The Farmhouse stands in 2 acres of private garden for children to play, complete with a trampoline, swings and slide, hammock, paddling pool, plus a large heated Swimming Pool-Spa is a brand new bubbly bonus for summer 2015, here the grown ups can enjoyed a chilled glass of something nice in the Spa end, while the little ones float around the pool end which is like a lazy river for them when the jets are on! The garden also has a lovely al fresco dining area to enjoy breakfasts of fresh pastries and baguettes from the local village as well as family BBQ feasts, washed down with chilled Breton cider and apple juice, of course.
The gite itself is a traditional Breton farmhouse, with exposed stonework and huge stone fireplaces maintaining the original character and charm but the interior has also been brought beautifully up to date with contemporary styling and furnishings. The open plan kitchen dining room is especially bright and modern, with a sleek breakfast bar and separate table with a funky designer light overhead, whilst the spacious main living area has a huge comfy corner sofa, FreeSat English Sky TV with plenty of kids channels including Cbeebies and a DVD player for cosy evenings in by a roaring fire. Les Clos also has a separate lounge / play room stocked with toys, games and a library of DVD’s, as well as Playstation 2 and Wii so that small and big kids can take on the grown-ups. All the beds have comfy mattresses and soft linen, plus even a family dog will feel in the lap of luxury, with a special bed and blanket all of its own.
Accommodation Overview:
Les Clos sleeps up to 12 (15 with extra beds on request) family and friends, plus two cots are available for babies and all the bedrooms have space for a cot. The six bedrooms offer considerable flexibility and two have ensuite shower rooms. The gite also has a family bathroom with a bath and shower overhead. The large open-plan kitchen diner has space for both casual and formal dining (table seats 12 plus highchairs), plus comfortable seating for socialising whilst cooking. It is fully equipped with all mod cons from full-sized hob, oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer-dryer, to toaster, kettle, Nespresso and iron. The spacious main lounge has a huge corner sofa to comfortable seat 8-10, whilst the second lounge is idea as a kids 'den' and comes complete with toys, games, seating for 6-8 plus a large TV, Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii and DVD player. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a very spacious sleeping area with king-sized double, plus a dressing room (could fit a cot) and ensuite shower room with double sinks. Then there's a large bedroom with super king-sized double and optional single bed (on request), a third bedroom with double bed, ensuite shower and optional double sofabed, a foutrh bedroom with large twin beds, another twin and a spacious attic room with double bed and sofabed (on request).
Please note: There is an open staircase in the main lounge which may require extra attention with little ones. Outside, there are spacious gardens with a huge, above ground, swim spa/pool (third jacuzzi and two thirds pool), outside dining furniture, BBQ, sun loungers, trampoline, swings and slide.

Location Information
Les Clos is located at the heart of the Cote D’Armor in northern Brittany, famous for its dramatic coastline and beaches, movie-set medieval towns and foodie delights. The typically French village of Plenee Jugon is 3kms (5 mins by car) to pick up fresh baguettes and pastries from one of the boulangeries or enjoy a meal at one of the lovely restaurants.
The ancient, riverside town of Dinan is only 25 minutes drive, with its medieval, half timber houses and narrow cobbled streets crammed with cafe bars, creperies and enticing little shops. Owner Nick describes Dinan as one of the most picturesque and stunningly preserved towns in Brittany and the boys say it’s like stepping into Daigon Alley from Harry Potter! Sticking with film set locations, magnificent Mont St Michel, just over an hour’s drive from the farmhouse, is one of the most iconic heritage sites in France, with its brooding 8th century fortress and abbey on its own tiny island reached by a causeway at low tide.
For an easier day out with preschoolers, simply plan a picnic at the ‘little town of character’ of Jugon Les Lacs (15 mins drive), set alongside a 4 km lake with a great manmade beach for paddling and watersports as well as an outdoor pool with waterslides. Alternatively for days by the sea, Pleneuf Val Andre (35 mins) is one of the owners’ favourite beaches with a sweep of soft sand and a pretty promenade, as well as the family friendly beach at Saint Cast Le Guildo which has lovely restaurants overlooking a children's play area.
Among the other things to see and do, families can have an underwater adventure on a yellow submarine at St Malo Aquarium (40 mins) and see wild animals in impressive chateau gardens at La Bourbansais Zoo (45 mins) or why not head over to Cobac Park (45mins) which is both an outdoor adventure theme park and a waterpark in one!
Nearest medical services: GP in Plenee Jugon (5 mins drive). Hospitals in Lamballe (20 mins) and Dinan (25 mins)
Getting There:
The nearest airports are Dinard (45 mins) and Rennes (50 mins). The nearest cross channel ferry port is St Malo (45 mins).

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
