Coastal family holidays in the UK rarely come better than this idyllic seaside family cottage in an unspoilt part of the Suffolk coast. Whether cosying up in front of a log fire with hot chocolate after bracing walks or crabbing on the quayside in Winter to enjoying sundowners in the waterfront pub opposite after long sunny days on the beach, exploring castles or enjoying boat trips. Not to mention sampling local delights in the artisan bakery come chocolate shop or seafood bistros mere steps from the front door!

Location Information
Nestled in the heart of the coastal village of Orford, the cottage benefits from several good food pubs, cafes, bistros on its doorstep as a well as an artisian bakery/chocloate shop and a fantastic general store that offers a pre-arrival shopping delivery service with tonnes of locally produced goodies from sausage and smoked fish to homemade doggie treats and locally produced beers and spirits.
There's plenty to keep families entertained without piling into the car with crabbing almost from the doorstep, miles of coastal path, standard and gourmet boat trips, plus a well-preserved castle to explore. That said, it is a shame not to venture a little further afield with the amazing anglo-saxon ship ruins and audio-visual displays at Sutton Hoo and the lovely boutique shopping, foodie delights and cultural events in Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings – not to mention possibly the UK's best Fish and Chips at Aldeburgh too! Although, for many, its the memory of hot chocolates at the Orford Tearooms, or sunsets and drinks at the Jolly Sailor that theyll remember best.
Getting There:
Orford is within 96 miles of Stansted Airport and around 12 miles from Woodbridge train station, which is just one stop from Ipswich, itself just three stops/70mins by regular train from London's Liverpool Street Station.

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
