This stunning former 16th century grain mill has been converted into a cool, contemporary family home by its British owners who have cleverly combined the mill's architectural features with modern luxuries to create a stylish home away from home. Best of all, since the family who own it have several children, they have added fun touches for kids plus a host of toys, games and play equipment, as well has handy nursery gear, but in a way that takes nothing away from the original charm and contemporary feel of the house.
Molino de San Louis' unique character has been emphasised in its re-design, combining the traditional with contemporary. A glass window in the floor downstairs sheds light on how the mill functioned and clever lighting highlights the columns and the archways stonework. Other original features from its milling past have also been preserved such as its beautiful arched ceilings, metre-thick walls and flag stone tiles, which help to ensure that it is wonderfully cool even at the height of summer.
This stunning property enjoys a a truly inspirational setting on a private organic cattle and cork estate (1000 acres) within the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, yet at just a short drive from the famous beaches of the Costa de la Luz and their magnificent wild oceanic scenery with Morocco in the distance, as the backdrop!
Accommodation Overview:
The downstairs is spacious and open-plan with stylish contemporary furnishings. The ancient arched ceilings are beautifully refurbished and compliment the modern lines of the state of the art kitchen complete with high spec silestone countertops and breakfast bar. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with enough to satisfy even the most accomplished cook including a six-hob, a range cooker and American style fridge/freezer/ice-machine, making it an ideal setting to work some culinary magic on the fresh local produce. The nearby Algeciras market is famous for having the best in Mediterranean and Atlantic fish in the area, not to mention the plethora of Moroccan delicacies, or even for trying the home grown organic beef. Beyond the kitchen is the dining areawith it beautifully made wild olive tree dining table. The lounge has a wonderful huge log fireplace, plump contempoary sofas, a chaise long and a large brown leather arm chair.
There's a lovely double bedroom on the ground floor, ideal for grandparents, with with its own Moroccan- style wet room. A further four bedrooms can be found upstairs. The master bedroom is the largest of the bedrooms, with a super kingsize bed – in August one needs only reach out the window to pick some of the delicious figs from the tree! The other bedrooms include one smaller double bedroom, a twin children's bedroom (both with trundle pull out beds to sleep a total of 4) and two single children bedrooms, all with splendid wooden beamed high-ceilings complete with roof fan. There are two bathrooms upstairs; the 'white’ bathroom that has been decorated with Tarifa beach shells and has a large bath, twin antique sinks and a walk in shower. The second bathroom has a bath/shower and is ideal for the children.
The garden is out the back of the house on the entreplanta, it looks as though it goes on for as far as the eye can see, as the lush lawn tumbles away into the farms pastures where the long- horned Retinto red cattle graze and the storks nest and clack. The rear terrace has a large banquet style wooden table and benches, ideal for entertaining and for protection from the midday sun, and serviced by the industrial size stainless steel Weber barbecue! The garden is very child friendly with a huge sand pit area for the children, a hammock in the wild olive tree, a trampoline and a table tennis table. There is also a climbing frame with slide, playhouse and two swings and a trapeze.
Please Note: a 175 Euro end of stay cleaning fee will be added to the rate. The house has a maximum capacity of 10 including infants.

Colette SintonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were lucky enough to have Vicki's expertise and support in finding our family holiday in Zakynthos this summer. After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! MAGGIE OAKLANDTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used baby friendly bolt holes to book a trip to Portugal. Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. Hannah RoseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Since our daughter was born 2.5 years ago, we have booked every single trip away with BFB. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. Highly recommended Samantha ClarkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
