There’s nowhere quite like Northumberland to leave the stresses and strains of the daily grind far behind and Church Cottage is an immaculate family cottage for recharging batteries and enjoying all that this amazing county has to shout about.
Church Cottage is just a few miles from Northumberland’s endless sandy beaches, in an idyllic rural setting where children will soon make friends with the locals – the sheep, cows, horses, goats, chickens and guinea fowl. Local free range eggs are available at the end of the drive and paid for in the honesty box. The enclosed front garden provides a safe place for playing out and the rear garden is partially open to a communal footpath but not adjacent to the road. There are no street lights in the village so on clear, dark nights, families can marvel at the Milky Way and keep eyes peeled for shooting stars.
The cottage has been finished in a very sophisticated, country style, with new furnishings and fittings carefully chosen t o bring a fresh, contemporary twist to the traditional character and original features like the huge stone fireplace and beamed kitchen ceiling. A cosy family room is well kitted out with toys, jigsaws, board games and Lego, plus a music system and iPod dock, while the comfy living room has a big wood burning stove to snuggle down and enjoy a family movie or favourite box set from the extensive DVD library. The new fitted kitchen is bright and modern, with a huge 1950’s style fridge freezer and dining table for 6, plus a toddler chair and the washing machine is in a separate utility room with a downstairs WC. All three bedrooms are in soothing muted colour schemes with quality linen and views over the countryside and the family bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower. Recently awarded 4 star GOLD by enjoy England.

Location Information
Church Cottage is located in the quiet little hamlet of Newham, just 3 miles from the truly breathtaking beaches and movie-set castles of the Northumberland coast.
The traditional Pack Horse Inn is just over 1 mile from the cottage, and a pleasant stroll, in the neighbouring village of Ellingham, serving home cooked evening meals and Sunday lunches. The quaint little harbour town of Seahouses is 4 miles away, with a well stocked co-op and local shops for essential provisions plus super fresh fish and chips, Indian and Chinese takeaways, several pubs and cafes, including Coxons ice cream coffee shop. Seahouses is also where families can take bird and seal spotting boat trips to the Farne Islands or pay a visit to Holy Island.
Adjacent to Seahouses, Beadnell Bay is one Northumberland’s famously fabulous sandy beaches, backed by sand dunes and in a sheltered crescent that makes it an especially ideal for families. Low Newton by the Sea is also close by and unquestionably one of the most attractive little villages on the Northumberland coast, with an idyllic cluster of fisherman’s cottages surrounding a village green by the shore and a hugely popular pub serving lush crab sandwiches. The vast swathes of broad sandy beaches are famous for never being crowded and what could be more exhilarating than a horseback hack along the sands.
One of the most amazing sights on the coast is the magnificent Bamburgh castle that towers above the sands and provides a backdrop to the historic coastal village. The formidable fortress spans nine acres of land and has 14 public areas for little knights and princesses to let their imagination run wild. The coast is strung with ancient castles and ruins to explore but the other most famous, must-see castle is in the market town of Alnwick (10 miles) and instantly recognizable to all Harry Potter fans as the wizard school of Hogwarts, with character events taking place throughout the year. Alnwick also has a Sainsburys supermarket which will deliver groceries to the cottage.
Nearest medical services (GP and A&E): Seahouses Health Centre, 4 miles. Alnwick Infirmary, 18 miles.

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
