Chateau Capitoul – La Cave Villa

Chateau Capitoul is the latest in a set of three seriously elegant but exceptionally family-friendly Chateaux villa estates from the couple who launched the popular Les Carrasses. Like sister hotels, St. Pierre de Serjac and the aforementioned, Les Carrasses, Capitoul shares the same parent-friendly mix of breathtaking vineyard setting with elegant but family-friendly accommodation ranging from chateau double bedrooms, to 2, 3 & 4 bedroom villas with and without private pools.

The fact that the villas here are set on a rocky outcrop above the chateau makes it less stroller and toddle-about friendly than sister properties, but Capitoul has the benefit of being minutes from the coast and has the same handy list of pre-bookable nursery kit, babysitters, kids club, activities and mini-guest menus, which, when added to the space and privacy of villa accommodation, makes it a winning combination for a family-holiday in our book.

It's truly relaxing for parents too. Whilst 4-12s are occupied at the kids club, parents can slope off to the glorious Cinq Mondes spa in the chateau's former cellars for indulgent treatments or just chilled time in the peaceful indoor pool, sauna, hammam or relaxation gardens. Alternatively, take a formal wine-tasting and vineyard tour, or try the self-guided version whilst attempting to stay upright on one of the electric scooters provided!

If lounging around the pool, spa, gardens, or enjoying the wide choice of local wines, nibbles and cocktails on the terrace, becomes a chore, there's tennis and petanque courts on site, and the charming Roman city of Narbonne with it's buzzy canal-side restaurants and bars is only a short stroll away- even quicker on one of the complimentary onsite bikes (some with child seats). If you're feeling energetic, the lovely fishing village of Gruissan is comfortable cycle away passing through the nature reserve enroute. Or, the onsite concierge team can help with pre-booking a wide range of local activities from beach clubs and boat trips to sailing lessons and canal canoe trips.

During the evenings, guests can choose between relaxing 'at home' on villa terraces enjoying glorious views for BBQs, pizza nights (delivery available) and sunset drinks, or sampling meals, drinks and music, sometimes via live musicians/DJs, on the chateau terrace. Babysitting is available for 'date night' meals in the chateau's well-regarded fine dining restaurant or in one of Narbonne's excellent bistros.


Accommodation Overview – La Cave Villas (sleep 4)
There are around 40 luxury self catering villas dotted around the 200-acre estate. All superbly finished and furnished with high spec kitchens and bathrooms. They sleep from 2-10+babies and range in size from 90 -200 square metres. All boast spacious private terraces furnished with dining and lounging sets along with BBQs and lovely views over vineyards to the nature lagoon beyond, making them idyllic spots to relax and unwind once little ones are tucked up in bed.

La Cave villas are situated mainly in the centre of the estate, they boast two en-suite bedrooms, one with bath and one with shower, one of which is on the first floor. On the ground floor they have a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining room and the second bedroom. Outside, each has a terrace and an enclosed, south west-facing Mediterranean garden with a dining area, sun loungers and a breath-taking view of the lagoon. As with all villas at Chateau Capitoul the level of comfort is very high with great quality furniture, luxury toiletries and mod cons including Nespresso machines, bluetooth speakers, air-con, satellite TV, bathrobes and luxury bed linen. The comfort also extends to optional daily breakfast basket deliveries, take-away pizzas and BBQ packs.
Dogs can be accepted at an additional charge of €15 a night.
