With all the advantages of a family holiday complex but on a beautifully bijou scale, Hill Farm Cottages in North Devon is a fab find, with brilliant onsite facilities whatever the weather.
When the Devon sun is shining, children can free range from the five barn conversion cottages into a huge grass paddock to burn off energy and set imaginations free – playing pirates on a little boat, or farmers on the tractor, or simply charging between the play house, climbing frame, swings and slides. Within the 6-acress of grounds, there are also friendly farm animals to meet and feed with the owners, including goats, pigs, ducks, sheep, rabbits, and chickens.
Rain or shine, a good sized indoor pool is a sure-fire hit, heated to a toasty 30 degrees and alarmed, with steps into the shallow end where little ones can splash and paddle with parents. Besides the pool, kids of all ages can hang out in the games room, with free pool, table tennis as well as a Wendy house, dolls house, play farm, construction site and lots more toys for girls and boys. So, with toddlers to teenagers happy as Larry, grown-ups can unwind in the cosy comfort of the cottages, relax in the sunny Courtyard and maybe even book an onsite massage or pampering beauty treatment. On balmy evenings, a barbecue in the garden could be the order of the day and if no-one fancies cooking there are pubs and takeaways in Great Torrington, less than a mile away.

The town has all the essential amenities including a Lidl supermarket and a good selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants and takeaways. For golfers, Torrington Golf Course is walking distance from the cottages and the Tarka Trail runs right by the farm, created as a scenic 163-mile walking and cycle track, which makes it perfect for pushchairs too! To pick up a unique souvenir, the world famous Dartington Crystal is only a mile away where little ones can paint their own glass gifts and parents can pick up more bargains in the factory shop.

Kids can also have a bouncingly brilliant time at Air Extreme Trampoline Park, (20 mins), and little ones will love spotting the 1000+ gnomes and pixies in the Gnome Reserve and Wild Flower Garden (30 mins). Older children (and big kids too!) can try zorbing, archery and clay pigeon shooting at Southdown Adventure Centre (15 mins).
The BIG Sheep (20 mins) is a North Devon family favourite as a petting farm with train and tractor rides, giant jumping pillows, indoor play area and boating lake as well as a new rollercoaster and laser battlefield. Also only half an hour from the cottages is the Milky Way theme park with rides and shows for all ages.

Colette SintonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were lucky enough to have Vicki's expertise and support in finding our family holiday in Zakynthos this summer. After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! MAGGIE OAKLANDTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We used baby friendly bolt holes to book a trip to Portugal. Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. Hannah RoseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Since our daughter was born 2.5 years ago, we have booked every single trip away with BFB. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
