For parents who dream of lazy days at super-stylish beach clubs but can’t find the will or justification to leave their minis behind, this family-friendly escape seriously hits the spot.
Designed by the architects behind the very hip Scorpios Beach Club, and sharing the same barefoot luxury aesthetic and DJ curated soundtrack, Domes Zeen certainly ticks the boutique hotel box but is dedicated to families too. Little ones from babies to teens will enjoy it just as much as their parents.
There’s no cringey early evening mini disco here but instead, junior guests are treated to nightly movies in a magical Bedouin-style tent, which is also hosts sleepover parties for excitable junior guests once or twice a week. All are supervised by staff from the kids club and crèche, which is unlike any other we’ve seen thanks to its emphasis on learning from nature and creativity.
The beach club restaurant is open all-day and offers a wide menu focusing on fresh local produce and international favourites. Healthy options and indulgent meals are given equal focus with a kids menu that spans the range from vegan poke bowls to chicken tenders and fries, as well as a breakfast porridge bar with pick and mix toppings that is always a firm favourite. For 'date night' meals, the adults-only 'Enino Gastronomy Restaurant' offers a very sophisticated tasting menu with wines matched to each course. Those on half-board packages will receive a €15 per adult/€7 per child credit when dining here.
For the littlest of guests, a comprehensive list of baby and toddler kit is available on loan and pre-bookable babysitting. So, even parents of those too little or too shy for movie nights or kids clubs can still enjoy a romantic dinner, spa session, sightseeing afternoon or simply cocktails and conversation.
The range of rooms, suites and villas on offer is well suited to families of all ages. New parents or those with just the one child can enjoy garden or sea view doubles or junior suites; whilst larger families can opt for one-bedroom suites with separate lounges that can sleep four, or two bedroom villas with extra living and outside space. Larger families or groups, can select adjoining family suites or villas.
All accommodation options boast complimentary Wi-Fi, SAT-TV, Nespresso machines, luxury bathrobes and retractable glass walls which open onto outdoor living spaces – ideal for evening drinks whilst mini guests sleep. Other than entry-level doubles, all room types benefit from either private pools or pools shared with just one neighbouring suite, as well as access to the communal pools and beach club.
The larger, private pool suites and villas come with ‘Haute Living’ extras in the form of complimentary half-board, one 3-course evening meal at the a la carte restaurant, daily mini bar restock, a pillow menu, dedicated check-in, and access to a 24/7 concierge service.

Location Information
Domes Zeen hotel and beach club nestles on a hillside next to a pristine stretch of the Cretan coast just outside the former Venetian influenced harbour town of Chania. Long considered one of the most sophisticated region of Crete, the addition of a growing number of sophisticated bars, boutiques, restaurants and beach clubs has it fast earning itself an international reputation as the family-friendly Mykonos amongst Greek families and word is now begining to spread internationally.
The Old Town of Chania (approx 5mins drive/15mins walk) is feels like a bit like time travel thanks to the blend of Oriental, Venetian and Greek architectures. Wander amongst the the maze of cobbled alleys, crammed with craft shops, little bars and markets. Take a pushchair friendly stroll or romantic evening walk along promenade with the Egyptian lighthouse, the Venetian port and the old ship arsenals. By day, stumble on fishermen cleaning their nets from their morning catch, while fresh Greek coffee wafts through the air. By night, dining tables twinkle with candlelights and music seeps out from hidden night spots.
Further afield, hike along Sameria Gorge (40kms drive), Europe's largest canyon or Lake Kournas with its sand a shingle beach, lovely scenery and chance to spot rare Diamond Backed Terrapins.
The beach at Domes Zeen is largely private with comfortable cushioned sun loungers and waiter service, but the sea can be a little choppy and it is pebbly, so not the most pushchair friendly. Best to set up in the beach club pavillion and nip out for paddling sessions.
Nearest Medical Services: There's a relatively new and modern hospital in Chania with A&E department
Getting There: The nearest airport is Chania (30mins), which is served by regular flights from most UK airports in Summer and major Airports during Spring/Autumn. Heraklion Airport has more frequent flights but is approx. 2 hours away by car. A discount can be offered for guests considering splitting a stay here with one at sister resort Domes of Elounda near Heraklion. Please contact BFB for details.

After finding out exactly what we hoped for and needed, Vicki was able to find our perfect holiday - we were so looking forward to it and couldn't have been more delighted. Vicki's communication was informative and proactive throughout - our happiness with the arrangements was of the utmost importance to her and I felt I could get in touch with any queries. These were addressed swiftly and efficiently. I really felt like she went the extra mile in helping us plan our holiday and ensuring we were comfortable with all aspects. Highly recommend!! Tori was really helpful in helping us book, manage transfers, etc. On our departure day we had unexpected passport issues - Tori was straight on to the hotel and arranged for us to stay a couple of days later than planned. She was brilliant and really diffused the stress of a heart sink situation. Would definitely book with these guys again. We have never been disappointed, and I have pretty high expectations when it comes to holidays! They respond so quickly to every query and have got us some great deals. I trust them fully with what are such crucial decisions about our much needed holidays and recommend them to every parent I know! I would be lost without them! The matching service was really useful Chris ReddingTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I submitted some basic details on their form on a Sunday evening and Tori got back to me the next day. We exchanged several emails and spoke on the phone. Tori was well informed, responsive and thorough. I was able to book a place that looks great with her help. It was great to have help from someone who specialises in family holidays, as our requirements are pretty different now compared to before having kids. I don't actually think I've ever had a personal service to help book a holiday before. Maybe this is what it was like when people used to go to the travel agent on the high street... Thanks Tori and BFB, would recommend and use again. Jessica TaylorTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Baby Friendly Boltholes by doing a Google search, and completed their online form with my holiday requirements. They got back to me very quickly with some great recommendations which were also very cost effective. Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances we're unable to book at this time, but I will definitely go back to Baby Friendly Boltholes when we're in a position to move forward with our booking. Thanks! Joel DaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really fast and easy, available on a Sunday to complete our booking. I can’t recommend Juliet at babyboltholes enough, from our initial enquiry right through to booking, she was responsive, understanding and patient. I didn’t even know where to start booking our first family holiday, Juliet took onboard all our needs and found us our dream trip. 5 star service for busy parents!
