Chalet Chambord

Nendaz, Verbier, Swiss Alps, Switzerland

Property Overview

0.0 (0 reviews )

A children’s snow park nearby, fabulous ski-ing, a hot tub and sauna all make Chalet Chambord very cool for winter fun, plus an annual average of 300 days sunshine make it a hotspot from Spring to Autumn too. Even with babies and toddlers too young to hit the slopes, there are crèches and babysitting in the resort so grown-ups can make the most of the ski-ing and the après ski!

Perched high in the Verbier ski region at 1400 metres, Chalet Chambord enjoys gob-smacking, uninterrupted views of the Rhone Valley and soaring Southern Alps which are frequently smothered in snow. The Chalet has an upside down layout to make the most of the views, with a fabulous open plan living area on the first floor featuring a double height wall of windows and doors onto a large balcony with eating area and barbecue.

The chalet was constructed in the last 4 years to exacting Swiss standards and has very efficient under-floor heating throughout. Snow or sunshine, day or night, the large, yet cosy, living area is ideal for chilling out, whether enjoying a family fondue with a spectacular view (2 highchairs provided) or snuggling into leather sofas by the real fire to watch cable TV or a favourite DVD, listen to iPod tunes or play with the many toys and games provided. Also part of the main live area is the super sleek, contemporary kitchen, with state of the art equipment, including a large, 90cm wide electrical oven with induction hob and a Nespresso machine to enjoy Cappuccinos and Moccaccinos after chilly days on the slopes. For mum or dad to enjoy a quiet hour or two with the e-book, a mezzanine overlooking the living area makes a cool and cosy ‘snug’.

The 5 bedrooms at Chalet Chambord are Alpine chic with shutters to provide a total black out effect for afternoon naps. There is room for a travel cot is all the bedrooms (two cots provided) and the 4 king size bedrooms also have stylish modern en suite bathrooms. To soothe away the aches and pains of winter sports (or the stresses of parenting!), Chalet Chambord has a sauna and a hot tub in the garden – so don’t forget the swimmies!

Accommodation Overview:

Chalet Chambord comfortably sleeps 10 plus two babies in cots (2 travel cots provided). Four bedrooms have king size beds and ensuite bathrooms. The fifth bedroom has bunk beds. All five bedrooms are large enough for a travel cot.

Location Information

Chalet Chambord enjoys a breathtaking location on the edge of the Swiss alpine resort of Nendaz in the top class Verbier ski region. The town has maintained its original charm but offers all the essential amenities, including 2 supermarkets, artisan bakers and Swiss cheese specialists, plus sports shops and the really handy Zap Shop for hiring extra baby gear, including walking rucksacks and prams. There are also plenty of opportunities for après ski fun, including a full range of restaurants, from traditional Swiss to Italian, Mexican and Chinese. There is a good playground and 2 crèches that take children from 18 months old, P’tit Bec and Flocon de Neige. Baby sitting can also be arranged through the Nendaz Tourist Office.

Nendaz boasts snow for 20 weeks of the year but the peak time is December to April, when the resort is a winter wonderland for children and adults alike. The skiing area of the 4 valleys encompasses Verbier, Nendaz, La Tsoumaz and Thyon-Les Collons, with excellent runs for all abilities, ski schools / crèches that specialize in lessons for children from 2.5 years and a dedicated children’s snow park at the top of the Nendaz ski lift. The resort also offers special events for children all year, including sledging, visits from Santa, Easter Egg and treasure hunts. (More information on the resort at www.nendaz.ch).

Even when the snow is gone, Nendaz is a year round resort, in one of Switzerland’s sunniest regions which boasts 300 days sunshine per year. In summer the climate is positively Mediterranean, with warm, sunny days to relax by the town’s open air pool and enjoy the full programme of family outdoor activities, including mountain biking down the pistes, beautiful walks through Alpine meadows and picnics by sparkling lakes.

Getting there: The drive to Chalet Chambord takes approximately an hour and a half from Geneva International Airport and 25 minutes from Sion Airport. Hiring a car is recommended to make the most of the local area.
