Al Gelso Bianco – Gelsomino

Al Gelso Bianco, with its stylish family-friendly apartments, is a real find for parents hoping to combine some impressive Italian sightseeing with a relaxing family holiday.

This child-friendly rural estate and winery is nestled amongst rolling Tuscan countryside overlooking the ancient and super picturesque village of San Gimiganano, which is famed for its 13th and 14th-century architecture. Families can flit between lazy days, unwinding by the pool, and culture-filled day trips, since the beautiful cities of Florence (35km) and Siena (40km) are an easy drive away.

But what really drew Baby-Friendly Boltholes to Al Gelso Bianco was its genuinely family-friendly approach. Despite being a vineyard and home to some seriously delicious wine, it puts mini guests at the forefront with an array of inclusive baby gear, toddler equipment, play facilities, and more. Little ones will love dipping in and out of the swimming pool, meeting the friendly onsite animals, and burning off some energy at the brand-new playground. They could even pick up a new skill, as there’s a choice of cookery classes available, including the chance to make homemade pasta which is always a big hit with kids.

Parents are equally well catered for. The warm welcome is just as effective as the estate’s Chianti in putting stressed-out adults instantly at ease, whilst the combined scenery, gym, optional breakfasts, visiting spa therapist, cookery classes, and babysitting service all help ensure parents have a relaxing and memorable holiday in the Tuscan hills. And did we mention the Chianti?

Accommodation Overview: Gelsomino Apartment (89sqm + 21sqm terrace)

The apartments at Al Gelso Bianco combine the contemporary with the traditional and each have their own character.

Glesomino apartment sleeps up to 4 plus 1 child and up to 2 infants in two bedrooms. Renovated in 2009, this spacious apartment was originally part of an ancient Tuscan farmhouse. Guests enter via a large covered terrace which is furnished with an outdoor sofa, armchairs. The terrace looks over rolling hills and is the perfect spot for an evening aperitif. We'd recommend a bottle of red from the onsite farmshop!

Inside the apartment is set on one level with only three steps that separate the sleeping area from the living area. The living area consists of a modern, well-equipped kitchen (with dishwasher), a cosy lounge area with a fireplace and a dining area. There are two bedrooms, one with a king-sized double bed and a second which can be set up as a twin room or king-sized double. There are two bathrooms, both with showers.

There is a communal laundry room which guests can use at a small additional cost.
